Hello from the floor of a room in the Walt Disney World Resort! I’m on the floor because I’m trying not to wake anyone else in my room up and this happens to be the best spot to hide the laptop light. While our flight and travel here was uneventful, we got in really late. Of course, it is impossible for me to sleep in, so up I am =)
I just learned that the cost of internet access here is on a daily basis, so I’m going to save all my entries for one long mega entry and post the pictures all at once, too, or at least in 2 day batches. I really wanted to update daily, but I must have read the hotel information incorrectly.
Today we are heading to The Magic Kingdom, with dinner reservations tonight at the Crystal Palace. I’m also hoping to get some pictures of this resort, it’s really beautiful. We ordered pizza to the room last night. It was either the best pepperoni pizza ever made or we were starving. Probably something in the middle.
5:15 PM (Still Monday)
We’re back at the hotel for a small siesta before going back out to the park. This morning we did a bit of shopping at the hotel gift shop for some autograph books. We also had breakfast here at the hotel.
Afterwards, we caught our bus to the Magic Kingdom! We started in Adventure Land with the Jungle Cruise (Elise sort of liked it, but made it clear she never wanted to go on it again), Aladdin’s Magic Carpet Ride (Elise LOVED it), Pirates of the Caribbean (Elise was mostly terrified, but grew to like it), then we split into two groups. Spike, Ed, and the boys went to Splash Mountain, which had an hour long queue. The other 7 of us went to Country Bear Jamboree, and that has probably been Elise’s favorite so far.
After a long, leisurely lunch we split up again. This time, Mark and I took the boys to wait in line at my favorite ride of all time, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, while everyone else retired to the hotel for a bit of pool time and rest before this evening’s adventures. Even though the line was long, the ride was worth it!
We timed our exit poorly though, we were heading back to the hotel just as the afternoon parade was ending and everyone else seemed to have the same siesta idea. By the time we returned to the hotel, it was already 4 PM and Elise was in the pool.
Right now, Samera is taking a much needed nap while Elise is playing with some of the loot she got after braving “Pirates.” We’ve got dinner reservations tonight at about 7 at the Crystal Palace, which is character dining so the girls will finally get to use those autograph books.

Well, after a mad rush through the Magic Kingdom entrance, we finally made it to the Crystal Palace. The girls enjoyed meeting Eeyore, Piglet, and Tigger. And the food! I remember the food being great, but wow. I really need to learn how to make Basmati rice, because, yummmmm.
After dinner, we split into two groups again. The ladies took the girls to Fantasyland, and the boys went to Tomorrowland to try to gauge Space Mountain’s queue times. We took the girls on the carousel which they loved! Then, Samera went on the Dumbo ride while Elise got all sorts of goodies from my mom and aunt. We were close to the Tinkerbelle store so she got a great light-up tiara (“Shiny!”) and some jewelry to wear to the Pirates and Princesses party on Wednesday night.
Speaking of Wednesday, we originally had reservations for both girls to get their hair styled and up-do’d at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique just before the party on Wednesday. We decided to cancel that in favor of dinner reservations at Chef Mickey instead. The girls were okay with this decision because they want to meet Mickey!
We saw the fireworks at Magic Kingdom last night from a different angle than I’m used to. I managed to get some great pictures of it, though! Our new camera does pretty well for all that Disney offers visually.
After the fireworks, the group was whole again. We sat on the curb on Main Street and waited for the 11 PM Spectromagic Parade. It was amazing, as always! The girls, naturally, loved it. They waved at all the characters and there was one point where I’m pretty sure the Evil Queen from Snow White put a curse on me.
Both of the little girls passed out on the bus ride back to the hotel. They woke up briefly when we shuffled them inside, but it was lights out for our entire party. Yesterday was a long but fun-filled day.
Today’s plans are to get a late start at MGM and we’re having dinner there, too. Epcot has Extra Magic Hours tonight, so we (my sister, Mark, and I), might take the two teenagers to that so we can ride some non-kid rides J I’d really like to ride “Soarin’” before Elise does to gauge if I think she’ll be afraid of it. She is generally not bothered by heights, so I think she’ll be okay.
Anyway! That’s it for now. There are 140-some pictures in the gallery, starting from our airport wait to the parade last night. If you want access to the gallery but don’t have it, please request it and I’ll approve the request (well, if I want you to have access, that is.
